I know it's a little outdated, but I have been off the 'vine for a while, and now after Obama-care has apparently flopped, I would just like to vent or discuss a few facts or opinions. First of all, the old line; "Other countries have free health care!"
Keep in mind that a lot of countries were communist, where the people had no money at all; and some others yet have an extremely high tax rate! That is how they pay for it, either by making people slaves to the government, or just randomly putting people in jail and requiring them to work (as doctors, nurses, and other healthcare related professionals). People say that the quality of this care is just terrible.
One perk to the whole thing that I have observed in the community, is the move to the thirty-two hour week, for those who don't buy the rather expensive healthcare plan. Those who work fewer hours seem to have much less stress, and less actual work related or stress related syndromes, such as epilepsy that sets on with age after years and years of hard work and long hours.
I was wondering when the President ran on the platform of free health care, the way I saw it. Then, after he was elected it turned into passing a law requiring people to purchase health insurance. I had compared our President to the world's biggest insurance salesman. Of course, who could come up with something more convincing to get people to buy insurance, than to pass a law requiring it. Now about six years into it, reports came out saying that the company backing it up, was having financial trouble. I will see if I can find out more, and come back with edits. Was it United Healthcare?
